What are the Ohio Academic Content Standards?

We live in Ohio and our Ohio Department of Education offers guidelines for what preschoolers (as well as all of the upper grades) should be learning. These are called "academic content standards." This is how the ODE website explains the standards: "Academic Content Standards describe the knowledge and skills that students should attain, often called the what of what students should know and be able to do. They indicate the ways of thinking, working, communicating, reasoning and investigating, and important and enduring ideas, concepts, issues, dilemmas and knowledge essential to the discipline." My lessons will be based on these state academic content standards.
